From the very first moment we decided to try for another baby and buying our 1st home back in 2014, the creative mind has been over flowing with house interior ideas & future nursery decor in our 3rd bedroom be it for a little girl or a little boy. So this has been a long time coming but we have done great over the past 3 years doing bits and bobs to our house and now finally …. clearing the 3rd bedroom (or junk/storage room!) as it’s been known as up to now. I think this happens in every new home at first doesn’t it!?

Anyway with our 1st son we decided to go with a cute Jungle animal themed room, which back then was great. However living in a rented property we weren’t able to do much in the way of decorating etc. So this time around we knew we could literally create anything we wanted to, and both wishing to know the gender of the baby at the 20 week scan helped this immensely! I am such an organised person and adore home interior ideas, preparing and nesting for a baby anyway.

We had kept hold of several baby items during the move to our new house which could be used for a boy or girl so that was great, and set us off in good stead. Aswell as getting rid of a fair few things as it was time for a fresh new start I felt in the new home too.

Learning to ride a bike!

Boys will be boys! and our little boy has always had a fascination about anything with wheels. Not only does he LOVE Cars, Trains and buses … pretty much any mode of transport to be honest! Since the age of about 1 we have been through so many ride ons, scooters, trikes and bikes. My true little favourite out of all of them though has to be the Scuttle Bug! It’s a perfect size for toddlers, great little wheels and best of all folds up so compact to take on your travels with you. It will even fit into a standard pram basket pretty well! Brody had one like this and it has lasted really well so has been put away for baby boy no.2 to use.

Sew Sew Special Baby!

I am a mummy who loves to sew and despite recently taking a short break from my little creative baby & children’s business Tots Go Travel. It would seem I still can’t stay off the sewing machine for very long! However this is for a very good reason … we are due a new little arrival in August. https://www.facebook.com/totsgotravel/

Therefore I have been very busy whipping up some lovely baby boy items including bibs, comforters, blankets, a carrycot liner amongst other things and I can’t wait to start using them soon.

Love to dine out! Isle of Wight style

We are a family who loves to explore our local surroundings and dine out, whether that be a nice lunch, evening meal, home made picnic or a quick stop off on a sunny day for an ice-cream! Family time is precious and making memories together is what life is all about.

Living on the Isle of Wight we are surrounded by beautiful beaches, coastline, countryside and woodlands so exploring somewhere new or experiencing new tastes is never far from our doorstep. We also have a lot of local produce available to us nearby and I really enjoy having a look around the little gift shops, displays, antiques and other delights we may stumble across.

I have made a gallery of snaphots really into a few of the local places we often go to here on the Isle of Wight.

Jané Protect car seat

Jané Protect car seat – Combination car seat (Group 0+/1)

I would like to introduce to you the Protect car seat by Jané that I have been lucky enough to review and test out with 2 little people. So far I have been delighted with this car seat which is extended rear facing until about 4 years old and installed with the car’s seat belt, so good to use if you or any family members have a car without isofix fitting points.

It arrived securely packaged and my 1st impressions of the seat were good it seems modern, nicely padded for comfort, easy to adjust the harness straps and the head support is easy to remove with Velcro and has a foam wedge in the back to make the seat more suitable for babies and can be removed as they grow.

The main features of this seat are:

Extended rear facing seat from birth until 18kg (about 4years old). You can use the seat forward facing from 9kg to 18kg also but rear facing is a much safer choice, being up to 5 times safer!
Seat belt installation and is not difficult to do.
The recline mechanism is a turn handle at the front of the seat, so you may find it easier to adjust this before it is secured in (rear facing).
All the covers are easily removable for washing

Jané Mila Highchair

I’m excited to be sharing with you my review of the Jané Mila Highchair. After the initial excitement of receiving anything new in a Jané box! I opened it and was pleasantly surprised. So here are my first impressions . . .

The highchair arrived very well packaged in a large strong box, all plastic wrapped with card and foam protection. Even better it’s all pre built! So there was no complicated assembly to do, you could literally pull it straight out of the box and start using it if so wished and the instructions are also included.

Inside was a luxury feel, smart looking leatherette padded seat with a gorgeous cotton newborn insert, also mocha brown straps that will hide any baby food stains so much better than white ones that I often see! Well done Jané!

Biggest features include:

Its quite lightweight and compact folding from birth to around 3 years old
It has 2 feeding trays to make ease of use when cleaning, playing with and feeding your child. There is also two screws at the back of the highchair legs to store the tray away when not in use.
6 backrest positions and 7 height positions are also available so it’s really quite versatile to suit your lifestyle, whether it’s pulled up to the table to join in family meal times or bought down to a lower level next to the sofa for feeding, naps etc.
All fabrics are of very high quality, well padded, wipeable and easily removed for cleaning.

Jané Matrix Light 2

Matrix Light 2 . . . every journey is a safe and comfy ride!

The Matrix light 2 car seat is a genius design by Jané that incorporates several uses from newborn up to 13kg. It can be used as a lay flat car seat, an upright car seat rearward facing and it’s also a great carrycot to have on any Jané pram chassis that is pro-fix.

It really appealed to us for it’s various uses and it is so well padded, comfortable and protective inside and out! We even have a Safety mattress for it which can be used overnight for sleeping if travelling away or just to make baby more comfortable when used as a pram carrycot. All the fabrics are easily removed for machine washing and the hood canopy extends far over for bright sunny days when the seat is upright. It has a zip off apron cover for added protection from the elements aswell.
